Some health-related news II
Mood:  sad
Nice. On top of all the stuff that I already suffer from, now I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea. Basically, I stop breathing while I sleep. My wife has noticed and it freaks the heck out of her. I also snore, and have a very dry nose (hence the bleeding). Finally, I have polips in my nose, that are also obstructing my breathing. Not too bad, the doctor said that the worst that could happen is that I have a heart attack in my sleep... :-(

So, next Saturday the 12th, I'm going to a Sleep Clinic, and then we'll see what happens. Now that's my idea of a Saturday night, going to sleep to a clinic...

Some health-related news...

I've had a lot of tests and exams done. Some of the results are:
* My blood pressure is OK: I had 120/80 yesterday (thanks Novohydrazide (R))
* My heart rate is normal: around 60 (thanks Atenolol (R))
* My blood test came back normal. No cholesterol (!)
* My blood sugar levels are still high. So, on top of the diet that I should be following, I'm now taking some pills.
* My weight is still the major concern. We'll see what I do about it...

More tests, checkups and stuff like that are still to come. For example, I have an appointment with a cosmetic surgeon tomorrow, to see if I get a rebel vein in my nose fixed, so it won't bleed again.

I'll keep you posted...

While I was away...

...nothing much happened. It was cold, I was away a few days, we went places, etc. I drove all the way to Washington DC to take Dad and Cristina back over my brother's. I left last Tuesday, drove 13+ hrs., arrived there at 7PM, slept and left again at 7AM the following day. A little less than 12 hours and minus one tire later I was back at home.

I had a concert last Sunday, and it was my very first concert as a soloist (after all these years). It went pretty well, I have to say that I enjoyed it a lot. It was a fundraiser, so imagine my face when I got payed for it (and it wasn't bad at all). I had a great time and finally found what could be my 'musical contribution' to this choir. People seemed to like the two songs from the '50/'60s that I sang, so I'll be working on that.

And I thought that -18C or so was cold. This morning we had -32.3C by the time I was taking the kids to school. Now that's cold!

---------------
I had a concert last Sunday. There was a very fine organist who came to play from Toronto, and he was quite impressive. I had a solo number, singing 'The three kings' with the rest of the choir. Two funny things happened after I finished singing: 1) Nobody clapped! (hey, it wasn't THAT bad) and 2) There was an ambulance passing by at the same time and its siren started to play at the same time I finished singing, providing an unexpected C# to a song that was in G Maj key. Yes, it sounded pretty bad.

But the concert was good. Now I have to prepare for another concert on Feb. 20. I have not idea of what I'm going to sing...

Winter is finally here...
Well, it seems that Winter finally arrived (a little late, don't you think?). It's really cold today; according to the University of Waterloo's weather site (It's very cool; link is here: http://weather.uwaterloo.ca) it's -19C now. And it's almost noon!

Now that the cold weather is finally here, I can start planning my ice fishing trip to Barrie, ON with my dad. We'll see...

I don't mind cold weather. As I always say, I chose to live in Canada, after all... :-)

---------------
